This multimedia text on CD-ROM provides a wide variety of materials to support the study of the mythology behind the Trojan War and the first book of Vergil's Aeneid. It was developed by Paul Murgatroyd and others at McMaster University in Canada, with programming and design by Paul Barrette, for use with the department's own classes.

Among the materials tied together with hyperlinks and a handy menu bar are:
1) the text of Aeneid, Book I, in both Latin and English, with audio-readings of the English;
2) a unique English version of the Trojan War saga;
3) a glossary of proper names from all of the texts;
4) a commentary on the Latin text;
5) a dictionary for the Latin text, with automatic look-up;
6) a collection of images of relevant geographical sites and artwork connected to the texts;
7) a useful index of all materials for quick reference;
8) a scansion quiz; and
9) a trivia game to play for a pleasant diversion when you think you know everything there is to know about the topic.
A bookmark facility helps you keep track of where you left off. Since the CD is filled with images and audio-video files, you must have it at hand when accessing them and it is not practical to install the entire program on a hard drive. Lab packs of 5 disks are discounted for quantity purchases.

The Scansion game and the trivia quiz are excellent ways of motivating students - and a bit of much-needed fun!
This program requires the CD to be mounted during use.
